Two Western Illinois Women’s Basketball greats earned spots on the Summit League’s All Decade Team. Emily Clemens (2014-present) and Ashley Luke (2012-2015) were named to the 10 player team Tuesday.
The team was determined by a fan vote conducted at the tournament's annual Fan Fest event. It was constructed to celebrate the tournament's 10 year anniversary of being held in Sioux Falls.
Clemens, a two-time All-League First Team Honoree, won the Summit League Player of the Year Award in 2016-17 as a junior. In last year's tournament, Clemens averaged 19.3 points, 9.7 assists and 5.6 rebounds over the three-game span that saw Western win its first Summit League Title. In this year's tournament, Clemens had a 36-point, 8-steal game in Sunday's quarterfinal victory over Omaha. Her 12-13 shooting in the game set a tournament record for single game field goal percentage (92.3%). The point total is third all-time in a league tournament game, and the steals total ties her for second.
Luke, a two-time All-League First Team Honoree, won the Summit League Player of the Year award in 2014-15 as a junior. Luke had a 35-point, 7-rebound, 5-assist performance against South Dakota in the 2014 tournament quarterfinals. That scoring output is tied for fourth all-time in a tournament game.
