Western Illinois Women's Basketball will be one of the 64 teams to compete in the 2018 WNIT. The bracket for the postseason tournament was released Monday night. WIU (22-9, 10-4) will face Colorado State (20-11, 11-7) of the Mountain West Conference. The game will be Thursday in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a tip-off time to be determined.
Western enters the tournament following a Summit League Tournament Semifinal loss to South Dakota State, the eventual Summit League champions. WIU won games on the road against two power-five conference teams this season, Illinois and then no. 18 Stanford. The Stanford win saw Western Illinois win its first game against a nationally ranked team in program history.
The Rams of Colorado State most recently fell in the Mountain West Tournament Semifinals to Boise State, the eventual Mountain West champions. The winner of the first round game between the Leathernecks and Rams will face either South Dakota or Houston in the second round.
