Correctional Officer Arrested on Custodial Sexual Misconduct Charges

Hancock County, IL-- Hancock County Sherriff Scott Bentzinger announced the arrest of 35-Year-old Cole Hamelton of Carthage, IL on charges of Custodial Sexual Misconduct.

 

At the request of the Sherriff, Illinois State Police conducted an investigation into allegations of Custodial Sexual Misconduct between Hamelton, a correctional officer at Hancock County jail,  and a female inmate.

 

Hamelton was arrested on Oct. 11th and per his bail hearing, will be held on $100,000 bail.

 

 

Hamelton is set to go to court Oct. 24th and is currently being held in McDonough County Jail. 

 

All subjects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.

On Oct. 11 at 8:58 p.m. Elijah Davis, 18, of 1404 Thompson Hall, was arrested in Thompson on a McDonough County warrant for fleeing and eluding police. He also received a Macomb city ordinance violation for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 9:02 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 12 at 4:44 a.m. Cameron Taylor, 23, of 716 W. Chandler St., was arrested in Olson Hall for domestic battery. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 4:49 a.m. where he was lodged pending bond.


Macomb Man Arrested for Underage DUI and Hitting

Macomb— The Macomb Police arrested a man for hitting three parked cars in town and for underaged drinking.

 

 Jakob Deweese, 20, of Macomb was arrested by police on Piper Street Saturday night when the first car he struck ended up in a front yard of a home. Deweese then hit another parked car before he backing into another car. Police said people witnessed Deweese driving around in a Chevy Silverado.

On Oct. 7 at 3:55 p.m. a University employee reported the theft of a metal lawn chair, valued at $60, from the Alumni House between Oct. 5-7. The incident is under investigation.
 
On Oct. 7 at 7:10 p.m. Marissa Lizzio, 21, of 31 Grote Hall, was issued a notice to appear Nov. 12 for a Macomb city ordinance violation of possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis near the University Union.
 
On Oct. 7 at 4:22 p.m. a student in Thompson Hall reported the theft of a phone charger wall plug and a video game wall plug, no value given. The incident is under investigation.
 
On Oct. 8 at 1:12 a.m. Gavin Meyer, 19, of 1211 Lincoln Hall; Robert Murdock, 18, of 1518 Thompson Hall; Donald Graves, 18, of 1518 Thompson Hall; and Anthony Williams, 18, of 1516 Thompson Hall were issued notices to appear Nov. 19 for possession of drug paraphernalia on Murray Street.
 
On Oct. 8 at 3:15 p.m. a student came to Mowbray Hall to report criminal damage to his electric bicycle, no value given. The incident is under investigation.
 
On Oct. 8 at 7:34 p.m. a student in the Corbin/Olson Dining Center reported the theft of $40 from her backpack. The incident is under investigation.


Macomb Man Arrested for being Intoxicated Entering Wrong Home

Macomb — Carl O'Connor, 22 years old, was recently arrested on Friday evening for trespassing into an East Calhoun Street residence. O’Connor was extremely intoxicated on Friday night when a female subject spotted him standing in her kitchen. 
 
It was around 11 p.m. when she called Macomb police after believing her husband was in the kitchen, but it was O’Connor. Police said O'Connor must've of fled the scene shortly after being found out. 
 
He was then found by officers on the 1200 block of East Carroll later that night where he was placed under arrest. The female subject decided to press charges against O’Connor for trespassing. MPD K-9 Officer to be Donated Body Armor

Macomb, IL--MPD's newest officer will be gearing up in some new digs thanks to a charitable donation. 

 

New K-9 Officer, Mac, Will recieve a new bullet and stab-proof vest courtesy of Vested Interest in K9s, Inc, a charity with a very valiant purpose. 

 

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The non-profit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially lifesaving body armor for their four-legged K9 officers. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over 3,500 U.S. made, custom-fitted, NIJ certified protective vests, in 50 states, through private and corporate donations, at a value of $5.7 million dollars.

 

K-9 Mac's custom vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always”. Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

On Oct. 4 at 8 a.m. a University employee reported that a thermostat was pulled off the wall, and a door damaged, in the Grote Hall lounge. Damage was estimated at $100. The incident is under investigation.

On Oct. 4 at 7:26 P.M. Elijah Davis, 18, of 1404 Thompson Hall, was arrested at Western Avenue/Riverview drive for driving under the influence (cannabis), and was cited for disobeying a stop sign. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 9:54 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Oct. 6 at 2:16 a.m. two students were judicially referred for open alcohol in public in Q-Lot.

On Oct. 6 at 4:10 a.m. Dreshawn Allen, 20, of 524 Corbin Hall, was issued a notice to appear Nov. 12 for a Macomb City ordinance violation for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor in the Corbin lot.

On Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m. a university employee reported that a portion had been damaged in the first floor women's bathroom in Thompson Hall. Damage was estimated at $100. The incident is under investigation.

10/01/19 

Nicole L Huffman, age 49, of Hamilton, IL was arrested and charged with Violation of Bail Bond. Huffman remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in place of bail awaiting her next court appearance. 

 

Douglas R Zimmerman, age 57, of Warsaw, IL was arrested and charged with Driving While License Suspended, Aggravated Battery, and Elder Abuse. Zimmerman remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in place of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

Nathan R Cadwell, age 25, of Hannibal, MO was arrested on a Hancock County warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Obstructing Identification and No Valid Registration. Cadwell remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in place of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

Tina M Nichols, age 52, of Warsaw, IL was arrested on a Clark County, MO Warrant charging her with Alleged Violation of the Conditions of Probation. Nichols was released to Clark County, MO Authorities.
