On Aug. 21 at 5:03 p.m. Zion Young, 19, of Olson Hall 727, was arrested in Corbin Hall for domestic violence, interfering with a report of domestic violence and criminal damage to government property (less than $500). He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 5:12 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

On Aug. 22 a Macomb city employee reported criminal damage to government property, damage valued at $200, at the bus stop at the corner of Charles and Adams streets. 

On Aug. 22 at 10:06 a.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Olson Hall. No fire was found and no injuries were reported. 

On Aug. 22 at 4:17 p.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Bayliss Hall. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported. 

On Aug. 23 at 2:44 a.m. OPS and the Macomb Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Washington Hall. No smoke or fire were found and no injuries were reported.


Traffic Stop Leads to Felonies for Plymouth Man

Plymouth, IL--At 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night, a Plymouth man was pulled over by Hancock County Sherriff's Department Deputies for disobeying a stop sign and failure to signal. During the traffic stop, Deputies observed indicators of criminal activities and requested backup from the K9 Unit. 

 

Upon positive alert from the K9, Zaire, Deputies conducted a subsequent search which revelaed the driver was in possesion of methamphetamine. 

 

37-year-old Seth Sappington, the driver, was then arrested and charged with Possesion of Methamphetamines, which is a class 3 felony. Sappington was currently out on bond prior to this arrest on a charge of Delivery of Methampetamine Under 5 Grams, a Class 2 Felony. Sappington also was under a joint investigation by the Illinois State Police in conjunction with the Hancock County Sherriff's Office. Sappington is being held on $50,000 bond at the Hancock county Jail. 

 

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.


Sex Offender Compliance Check Conducted in Schuyler County

On 8/22/2019

 

Schuyler Co Sheriff’s Deputy’s were assisted by U.S. Marshall Service conducted a Sex Offender Compliance Check. Schuyler Co has 11 Sex/Violent Offenders living within the county. Out of the 11 offenders, 7 were compliant, 0 was non-compliant, while 4 offenders were unreachable at the of the check. All offenders  will be checked at random days throughout the year. At approximately 2:00 Deputy White was on patrol at the River’s Edge in Browning when Deputy White saw 2 vehicles parked close to the vacant building. White found a sliding door open and entered the building. Upon entering the building Deputy White found 4 people inside hiding. A juvenile of Chandlerville was cited for Criminal Trespass to Real Property, subject was given a Notice to Appear. Another juvenile of Havana was cited for Criminal Trespass to Real Property and was given a Notice to Appear, Alden Nero of Browning was cited for Criminal Trespass to Real Property, Nero was given a Notice to Appear 

 

Dylan Miller of Browning was cited for Criminal Trespass to Real Property and was issued a Notice to Appear

Giridhr Gadde of Rushville was cited for Speeding 80mph in a 55mph zone 

 

Xavier Hoar of Beardstown was arrested by Beardstown PD on a Schuyler Co Warrant in the amount of $300.00 cash bond, Hoar posted bond. 

 

Jerrica Rich was arrested by Jacksonville PD on a Schuyler Co Warrant in the amount of $200.00 cash. Rich posted bond.

On Aug. 16 at 7:52 p.m. a student was judicially referred for behavior after he falsely activated an emergency call box near Thompson Hall. 

On Aug. 17 at 10:52 a.m. a student reported that two shirts and a Braille note tablet reader had been stolen from his Corbin Hall room. Estimated value of the items is $10,000. The incident is under investigation.

On Aug. 17 at 9:44 p.m. Krystal Thomas, 18, of 1128 Thompson Hall, was issued a notice to appear Sept. 17 for a Macomb city ordinance violation for possession of cannabis (less than 10 grams) in Thompson. Another student was judicially referred for suspicion of cannabis.

On Aug. 18 at 8:52 p.m. Jared Tabor, 20, of 822 Olson Hall, was arrested in Olson on a McDonough County warrant. He was transported to the McDonough County Jail at 9:01 p.m. where he was lodged pending bond.

John P Rasmussen, age 54, of Hamilton, IL was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Rasmussen remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

Brooke T Smith, age 33, of Keokuk, IA was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Petition to Revoke or Modify Sentence for Probation Violation on original charges of Possession of Methamphetamine. Smith was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date.

 

08/14/19 

Carrie N Morris, age 31, of Burlington, IA was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear at the Illinois Department of Corrections to Serve Sentence Order on 4/16/19. Morris was transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections. 

 

Brandon R Lindsay, age 25, of Nauvoo, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance. Lindsay remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

Kenneth L Howell, age 57, of Keokuk, IA was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Howell was also arrested on another Hancock County Warrant charging him with Petition to Revoke or Modify Sentence for Probation Violation on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Howell remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance. 

 

Cindy L Cleesen Plowman, age 53, of Warsaw, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear on original charges of Deceptive Practice and No Valid Driver's License. Cleesen Plowman was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date. 

 

Douglas W Washburn, age 37, of Sutter, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Washburn was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date. 

 

Michael D Amenell, age 36, of Burlington, IA was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear / Failure to Pay on original charges of Reckless 

Driving. Amenell was also arrested on a Des Moines County, IA Warrant charging him with Criminal Mischief. Amenell was released to Des Moines County Authorities. 

 

Kelsey Jo Creasy, age 28, of Augusta, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging her with Failure to Appear on original charges of No Valid Driver's License. Creasy was released after posting the required bond and given a future court date. 

 

Shawn M Schelby, age 37, of Carthage, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While License Suspended, Operating Uninsured Vehicle, and Speeding. Kenneth R Bouchard, age 41, of Hamilton, IL was arrested and charged with Driving While License Revoked. Bouchard remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ANNOUNCE THE USE OF ROADSIDE SAFETY CHECKS

Macomb, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) District 14 Commander, Captain Jon Dively, 

announces the ISP will conduct Roadside Safety Checks (RSCs) in McDonough County 

in conjunction with the Labor Day weekend holiday. The use of RSCs combine a strong 

sense of public awareness and enforcement in order to save lives of the motoring 

public.  

 

The ISP has zero tolerance for impaired driving in Illinois. Officers working the detail will 

be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a 

suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, and most 

importantly:  

 

- Driving Under the Influence (DUI);

- Safety Belt and Child Restraint use;

- Speeding;

- Distracted Driving; and,

- All Illinois Vehicle Code and Criminal Violations.  

 

Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle 

crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to 

alcohol-impaired driving. RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking 

dangerous DUI offenders off the road. This project is funded through the Illinois 

Department of Transportation.  


Illinois State Police Officer Injured Executing Warrant

Downers Grove, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) officials announce injury to ISP officer, which occurred on August 15, 2019, at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Wheeling, Illinois (Cook County).

 

At approximately 6:30 p.m., ISP Officers responded to a residence in Wheeling, IL (Cook County) to execute an arrest/search warrant for a subject wanted for Forcible Detention (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated Assault to a Police Officer (Class 4 Felony), and Aggravated Unlawful Restraint (Class 3 Felony) stemming from an ISP traffic stop which occurred on I-294 at approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 15, 2019. During the execution of the warrant, shots were fired from within the residence, and an ISP Officer was shot. The officer was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The officer is a five year veteran of the ISP, and is 32 years old. A suspect has been taken into custody, and is currently being detained pending formal charges.

 

“The men and women of the Illinois State Police again and again display bravery simply by doing the job they’ve sworn to do. This officer, and all first responders who responded today, showed uncommon valor in what is becoming an all too common situation. The officer and his family will be in our hearts during his recovery,” stated ISP Acting Director Brendan F. Kelly.

 

 

The investigation is open and ongoing and no further information is being disseminated at this time.

Samuel S.W. Davis, age 20, of Hamilton, IL was arrested on a Hancock County Warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on original charges of Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol. Davis remains lodged in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of bail awaiting his next court appearance.
