The Macomb Bombers baseball team lost in their Regional Playoff matchup against Limestone yesterday 9-1.
The Bombers had a hard time containing the Rockets explosive offense. Limestone racked up 15 hits during the game. Macomb pitcher Ben Higgins was responsible for those hits and allowed 9 runs to score for Limestone, but he finished with 3 strikeouts in his last career game with the Bombers.
Macomb’s offense finished the game with 7 hits. Tyler Bickers and John Ogle led the way with two hits each. Ogle scored the 1st run of the game in the first inning, but Macomb couldn’t hang on to their lead as Limestone’s offense quickly heated up. The Rockets scored 2 runs the second inning and never looked back as they produced 7 more runs over the next three innings.
Limestone effectively ended the game by shutting down Macomb’s offense for six scoreless innings and now the Rockets will advance to the Regional Championship against Dunlap this Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 12pm noon.
The Varsity Bombers baseball season sadly comes to an end, but the team finished this year with a positive record of 15-11. With a young core of promising players, Macomb should focus on developing their talent until next year to have another chance at a deeper post-season run.
