The Western Illinois women’s golf team has spent the last two days participating in the Butler Invitational, and Tuesday wrapped up an impressive showing. The Leathernecks jumped a few spots on the final day to wind up with a fourth place finish, and did so on the back of a number of great individual performances.
Cassidy Jurkaites shot a 78 on the final day to move her score to 226 for the event, putting her solidly in 7th. Though she may have had the highest finish, she was not the only Leatherneck who performed well, Natalie Hooper put in a 78 to mark her lowest round of the tournament and secure a 9th place finish.
In a quote obtained by Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant, Danny Frey, Women’s Golf Graduate Assistant Brodie Dakin said, "The team played really well today. They were just a few big holes away from shooting a great score as a team. They need to keep working hard at minimizing mistakes and the scores will continue to improve. Another good showing by Cassidy and Natalie.”
The Leathernecks only have one more event remaining on the fall schedule, the Tiger Fall Invitational on October 27th and 28th. The event will be hosted by Savannah State.
